Obituary for Alexis A. Carnes (Matinchek)

Alexis Antoinette (Matinchek) Carnes, 39, of Middletown, entered into eternal rest, Thursday, June 18, 2020 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on March 12, 1981 and was the daughter of Keith E. Matinchek and the late Carole A. (McCamant) Matinchek.
Alexis wore many different hats at the Brownstone Café but was most notably known for her role as everyone’s favorite waitress. She was a beautiful person, inside and out and would make everyone feel as though they were her best friend.
She was a 1999 graduate of Lower Dauphin High School and a 2004 graduate of Kutztown University.
In addition to her father, she is survived by her loving husband of 8 years, Mark “JJ” Carnes; daughter, Mila Carole Carnes; brother, Zachary E. Matinchek and his wife Kelly; paternal grandparents, Frank and Margaret Matinchek; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. She is also survived by a group of additional family and friends that could only be described as amazing. To attempt to describe this group of people in words is nearly impossible. The time and dedication they devoted to us over the last six months was nothing short of miraculous. The Matinchek and Carnes families thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.
Aside from her unconditional love for her family and friends, Alexis loved visiting Hawaii and was a true champion for all those who needed a helping hand.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at 12:00 noon at Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Middletown with the Rev. Ted Keating as celebrant.
Viewings will be on Friday, June 26, 2020 from 4-8pm at the Matinchek Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., Middletown and on Saturday, June 27, 2020 from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass at Seven Sorrows.
At Alexis’s request, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mila Carole Carnes Education Fund, c/o Members First FCU, Middletown Branch, 361 E. Main St., Middletown, PA 17057, or any Members First FCU branch.
