Obituary for David Jerome Wilbert

David Jerome Wilbert, 50, of Middletown, joined Heaven’s Golf Tour on Monday, March 14, 2022. He was born on March 3, 1972 in Hershey and was the son of Jerome Wilbert [June] and Linda (Wagner) Murray [Tom], beloved husband of Annie Matincheck, and proud Dog Dad to Sadi Mae and Stella Ann.
His grandparents, David and Loretta Wilbert, and Norman and Mary Wagner were there to witness his opening perfect round (29-30).
In addition to his parents, and wife, he is survived by his biggest fans and loved ones: Sisters Michelle Barnes [Chris] and Teresa Spittle [Chad]; brother Christopher Murray [Lisa]; nephews Ethan, Jackson, Eli and Miles; nieces Brooke, Isabelle, Sydney (Goddaughter), and Adysyn; in-laws Edward and Patti Matincheck; grandmother Stephania Matincheck; a host of aunts, uncles and cousins; and a lifetime of cherished friends.
In post-round interviews they learned that this stylish new golfer, David, was a fun loving, loyal, protective and caring man who was unapologetically his own person. He was a devoted husband, son, brother, uncle and friend. His love for his wife, dogs, family and friends were evident in everything he did. He had an unparalleled passion for golf and talent for cooking. He loved sports, camp, rap music, dogs, food and drink, among many other things. He lived life to its fullest and pushed its boundaries at every turn. He had no regrets, left nothing unsaid, and while his life ended too soon for those who loved him, it was not unfinished. He left the world to join the tour with a heart filled with love and true happiness.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 1:30 PM at Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, with the Rev. Tim Sahd officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the time of the service, Saturday, at the church.
A celebration of his life and his big win will immediately follow at the IW Abel Hall, where we will honor him by sharing our memories together while wearing his style of colorful golf clothes, sports teams, or anything else that you know he loved.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name to Guardian Angels for Soldier’s Pets, Mission K9 Rescue, or Paws and Stripes are appreciated.
