Obituary for Dorsey Richard Matson

Dorsey Richard Matson, 86, of Middletown entered into eternal rest on January 21, 2021 at the Shippensburg Health Care Center. He was born March 8, 1934 in Elizabethtown, PA to the late Richard and Mabel (Hornafius) Matson. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Elaine (Fuhrer) Matson.
He is survived by 2 children, John and Sue; 2 grandchildren, Josh and Jessica; great-grandchildren, AJ, Mackenzie, and Maddie; and good neighbors, Ron & Sue, Alex & Sherrie, Denny & Rhonda, Shawn & Angie, Don & Heather, Dave Floyd, and the Orris family. He was predeceased by 2 sisters, Dolores and Audrey.
He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. Dorsey belonged to the Middletown Union Hose Company #1 and was a 50 year member of the Cumberland Valley Volunteer Firemans Association. He was a member of the Abraham C. Treichler Lodge No. 682, F&A.M. and was a 14 degree in the Valley of Lancaster Pennsylvania Lodge of Perfection.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 29, 2021 at 11 AM at Matinchek Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 260 E. Main St., Middletown, PA 17057 with The Rev. Dr. J. Richard Eckert officiating. A visitation will be held from 10 AM until time of the service.
