Obituary for Douglas L. Hoy

Douglas L. Hoy, 77 of Elizabethtown, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at the UPMC Pinnacle Community Osteopathic Hospital.
He was born on March 8, 1943 in Millersburg and was the son of the late Mark and Clara (Gingrich) Hoy.
Doug was a member of the St. Peters Evangelical Lutheran Church, Middletown. He was also a US Army Veteran having served during the Vietnam War.
Doug enjoyed home remodeling, gardening, taking pictures and videos during family events, genealogy, and history - especially civil war history. He also made the best burgers, wings, ribs, and beans! Above everything else, his family was his greatest joy.
In addition to his parents, Doug was preceded in death by an infant son, Douglas J. Hoy and his three brothers, Mark Hoy Jr., Ken Hoy and Charles Hoy.
Doug is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, JoAnn (Gentile) Hoy; three children, Valerie F. Hoy and her husband Howard Rhodehamel of WA state, Angela I. Sassani and her husband Daniel of Elizabethtown and Daniel C. Hoy and his wife Nicole of Linglestown; five siblings, Patricia Risso, Mary Miller, Gloria Michael and her husband Bill, Carl Hoy and his wife Carol and Herb Hoy; five grandchildren, Jade Sassani, B’Elanna Rhodehamel, Ivan Rhodehamel and his wife Katie, Kes Rhodehamel and Michael Rhodehamel.
Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions, services will be private. However, there will be a live stream of the funeral services on Monday, January 18, 2021 at 12:00 Noon with the Rev. Dr. J. The family has entrusted the care of the Matinchek Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., Middletown to handle the funeral arrangements.
