Obituary for Edward Thomas Smerick
Edward Thomas Smerick, 76, of Middletown entered eternal rest on Monday, February 6, 2023 at Hershey Medical Center.
He was born January 18, 1947 in Kittanning, PA and was the loving son of the late George E. and Ada M. (Goodgasell) Smerick.
Edward was a proud veteran who served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.
He was a member of Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Middletown.
Edward enjoyed playing on his Bocce ball team, watching Westerns, Steelers, and baseball, woodworking, and trivia night with friends. He also enjoyed classic cars, model trains, and military aircrafts. Edward's greatest love was his family.
Edward is survived by his son, Edward J. Smerick and wife, Kathrine of Middletown; daughter, LaTisha M. Kirchner and husband, Beau of Lewisberry; brother, Michael C. Smerick and wife, Barbara of Hummelstown; grandchildren, Amber Witmer, Conner Witmer, and Zander Kirchner; nephew, Adam Smerick; soulmate, Cheryl L. Smerick.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 13, 2023 at 12:30 PM at Seven Sorrows BVM Church, 280 N. Race St. Middletown, PA with Fr. Timothy Sahd as celebrant. There will be a viewing from 11:30 AM until the time of service at the church. The Mass will be livestreamed for those who cannot attend in person. Interment will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with full military honors.
