Obituary for Edwin Glenn Johnson

Edwin G. Johnson, 94, of Harrisburg entered eternal rest on Sunday, January 22, 2023, at Harrisburg Hospital. He was the widower of Helen A. (Hartman) Johnson.
He was born July 28, 1928, in Lewisburg and was the loving son of the late Joseph C. and M. Kathleen (Lebkicker) Johnson.
Edwin was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War in Germany.
He was an inspector for New Cumberland Army Depot from where he retired after 30+ years.
Edwin was a member of the Middletown American Legion Post 594 and enjoyed woodworking and creating home movies for the whole family to enjoy.
In addition to his parents and wife, Edwin was preceded in death by stepson, William Swinehart; stepdaughter, Carol Duke; step-grandchild, Tracy Smith; and brothers, William and Richard Johnson.
Edwin is survived by his daughters, Donna Etter (Craig) of Middletown, Candace White (Troy) of Middletown; brother, H. Dale Johnson (Jean) of Lewisburg; four grandchildren; one step-grandchild; twenty great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Jan Swinehart; several nieces and nephews.
There will be a burial at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, 60 Indiantown Gap Rd, Annville, PA on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at 1:00 PM with full military honors. The procession will leave the funeral home at exactly 12:15 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Edwin’s name to Middletown American Legion Post 594, 137 E. High St. Middletown, PA 17057.
The family has entrusted the Matinchek Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. 260 E. Main St. Middletown, PA with the funeral arrangements.
