Elizabeth “Libby” Ann Lightner, 80, of Highspire, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at the Holy Spirit Hospital.
She was born on January 16, 1940 in Highspire and was the daughter of the late Samuel and Olive (Sheesley) Motter.
Libby was a member of Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Middletown were she was involved in many organizations such as NCCW, RCIA, and The Legion of Mary. She also served as an Eucharistic Minister.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, baking (especially cookies), crafts, crocheting (especially making fancy afghans). She also enjoyed collecting cook books, angels and Indian brass. She was an avid old movie and Hallmark movie watcher.
In addition to her parents, Libby was preceded in death by 12 siblings (6 brothers and 6 sisters).
She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Thomas Lightner; two daughters, Cindy L. Monn and her husband LeRoy of Charleston, SC and Wanda J. Sarver and her husband Brian of Etters; one brother, Paul C. Motter of Highspire; one sister, Frances L. Jeske of Merrill, WI; four grandchildren, Chrissie Miller (Darin) from Harleyville SC, Jason Monn from Charleston, SC, Thomas Agnew and Joseph Agnew from Marysville and one great granddaughter, Kaylee Miller.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at 11 AM at Seven Sorrows of the BVM, 280 N. Race St., Middletown, PA 17057 with Rev. Ted Keating as celebrant. Family and friends are invited for a visitation from 10 AM until time of the Mass. Burial will follow services in Highspire Cemetery, Highspire, PA. Arrangements have been entrusted to Matinchek Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 260 E. Main St., Middletown, PA 17057.
