Obituary for Frederick Schwan Auch

Frederick S. Auch, 91, of Middletown, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at the Middletown Home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the widower of Helen (Baumbach) Auch.
Fred was born on September 23, 1930, in Middletown and was the son of the late Ray M. and Hilda J. (Schwan) Auch.
He was a US Army Korean War Veteran and was retired from the Mechanicsburg Navy Depot. Fred was a member of the American Legion, Bright Hope Fellowship and Riverside Chapel and was a Sunday School Teacher for many years. He enjoyed bus trips and traveling with his wife, camping, wood working, and trips to the beach with his family. One of the many ways he served others was delivering Meals-On-Wheels. Fred also was an avid Penn State Football fan and Philadelphia Phillies Fan. His greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren and family. Throughout his life Fred was often sought out by family and friends for his wisdom and practical Christian advice which he willingly offered with sincere compassion. He will be sorely missed.
Fred is survived by his three children, Linda Bartholomew and her husband Tim, David R. Auch and his wife Cheryl, Kathy J. Secord and her husband Ray; Seven grandchildren, Amanda Martin, Amy Picciotto, Molly Lantz, Ashley Lynch, Jessica Williams, Daniel Secord, and Heather Hall and eight great-grandchildren, Abigail Martin, Lucas Martin, Caroline Martin, Gabriel Picciotto, Charlotte Williams, Madilyn Secord, Elliott Lynch and Theodore Lynch.
A tribute to his life will be held on Friday, June 10, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Bright Hope Fellowship, 345 N. Deodate Rd., Middletown, PA 17057 with Pastor Dan Gilbert officiating.
Viewing will be from 12:00 PM until the time of services, Friday at the church. Services will be live streamed on date of service.
Burial will be in the Middletown Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions in his name be sent to Bright Hope Fellowship, or Riverside Chapel, 630 S. Union St. Middletown PA 17057 or to the Middletown Home Benevolence Fund 999 W. Harrisburg Pike, Middletown PA 17057.
The family has entrusted the care of the Matinchek Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., Middletown to handle the arrangements.
