Obituary for Hazel J. Cooney (Bamberger)
We lost our best friend today.
Hazel Jane Cooney, 80, was taken home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 15, 2020 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Hazel and Glenn were high school sweethearts and had a wonderful marriage full of laughter and fun for over 64 years. They modeled love and commitment the way God intended it to be. Hazel loved nothing more than her family. Her husband and children were her life. She never gave up fighting during her 18 year journey because she refused to leave her family. She said this many times.
Her children Gail, Bud, Gary and Dave had the immeasurable blessing of having her as their mother. She personified unconditional love. Hazel also loved her daughters in love Dory, Nuko and Angie and her son in love Bob with her whole heart and they gave her great joy. Ten grandchildren, great grandchildren and a great great grandson were also blessed to have her example of love and selflessness.
Wife, mom, grandma- her laughter and smile will never be forgotten and will forever be missed.
A memorial service will be held Friday July 24 at 11 am at Fountain of Life Church 209 Newberry Rd., Middletown Pa to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Hospice of Central Pennsylvania.
The family has entrusted the Matinchek Funeral Home, 260 E. Main St. Middletown, PA with the funeral arrangements.
