Obituary for John A. Blessing Jr.
John A. Blessing, Jr., 78, of Elizabethtown formally of Middletown, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, July 23, 2020 at Hershey Medical Center.
He was born on August 19, 1941 in Harrisburg and was the loving son of the late John A., Sr. and Isabel (Hummel) Blessing.
John was a firefighter for the city of Harrisburg Fire Department where he served for 32 years before he retired.
He enjoyed antique cars, fire antiques, rocks and minerals, fishing, hunting, traveling and watching anything about history. His greatest love was spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents John was preceded in death by his grandson, Allen Halbleib and great-granddaughter, Annaleise Davidow.
John is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary (Miller); sons, John A. Blessing, III of York, Michael A. Blessing of Carlisle, David A. Blessing (Marsha) of Mechanicsburg, Robert C. Miller (Crystal) of MN; daughter, Susan A. Halbleib (James) of Hummelstown; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.
There will be a public viewing Thursday, July 30, 2020 from 10:00 AM till 12:00 PM at Middletown First Church of God, 245 W. High St. Middletown, PA. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Interment will be on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Middletown cemetery, 675 N. Union St. Middletown, PA and all are welcome to attend.
