Obituary for Joseph William Souders
Joseph W. Souders, 77, of Middletown, entered into eternal rest on Friday, February 14, 2020 with his loving wife by his side.
He was the devoted husband of Susan E. (Field) Souders and was born in Reading, PA on March 22,1942 to the late Harry E. and Ruth C. (Miller) Souders.
Joe was a US Army Vietnam Veteran and a retired car sales manager who worked for several local car dealerships throughout his career. He was a member of Seven Sorrows BVM Catholic Church, Middletown. Joe also was a member of the American Legion Post 594, Middletown, the Verhovay Home Association and the Appalachian Brewing Company Mug Club. He enjoyed woodworking, but his greatest joys were his children, his grandchildren and his cats.
Joe is survived by his wife; his children, Linda and husband, Jon Alexander, of Earlysville, VA; Joe and wife, Shelly Souders, of Olathe, KS; Laura and husband, Tom Pavone, of Palmyra; and Lisa Souders, of San Diego, CA; and his 11 grandchildren, Sydney and Kaitlyn Alexander; Jacob, Luke and Kyle Souders; Emma, Joey and Kendall Pavone; and Gwen, Ione and Tessie Pennell.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am, Friday, February 21, 2020 in Seven Sorrows BVM Church at 280 North Race Street, Middletown, PA, with Rev. Fr. Ted Keating as celebrant. Viewings will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2020 from 6pm to 8pm in the Matinchek Funeral Home, Inc. at 260 East Main Street, Middletown, PA and also from 9:30am to 10:30am on Friday in the Church.
Burial with military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, Pa at 12:30pm Friday, February 21, 2020.
