Obituary for Leon W. Merlin Jr.
Leon W. Merlin Jr. (Gus), 69, of Middletown, entered into eternal rest suddenly on May 4, 2022.
He was born on March 31, 1953 in Canandaigua, NY and was the oldest son of the late Leon W. Merlin and Vivian (Palmer) Merlin.
Gus was very proud of his Comanche heritage and was a member of the Comanche Nation. He enjoyed hunting and fishing immensely, but his greatest joys were his son and grandchildren and their accomplishments. He was a lifelong multiskilled builder in numerous trades. Gus will be remembered as a loving brother, father and grandfather and a true friend that would always help any way he could.
Leon is survived by his loving son, Jason L. Merlin and his wife Krystal of Huntsville, TX; one brother, Kevin Merlin; three sisters, Mary Merlin, Vicki Golding, and Nita Eagley; three grandchildren, Felicity Merlin, Justin Herron and Sawyer Herron; special friend, Elmer Fisher
A private viewing will be held on May 10th with a memorial to follow at a later date. His wishes were for his ashes to be spread in the St. Lawrence River in the Thousand Islands, NY.
The family has entrusted the care of the Matinchek Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., Middletown to handle the funeral arrangements.
