Obituary for Leroy Ivan Jefferies Jr.
Leroy Ivan Jefferies Jr., 88 of Middletown, entered into eternal rest on Monday, March 7, 2022 at the Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill with his loving family by his side.
He was born on July 12, 1933 in Harrisburg and was the son of the late Leroy Ivan Sr. and Charlotte (Evans) Jefferies.
Leroy graduated from Middletown Area High School and was retired from the Unites States Army as a MSG, retired from TMI as a Supervisor and also retired from Hershey Foods. He was very devoted Deacon to his church, First Zion Baptist Church, Middletown, where he was a deacon since age 19. He was also faithful with the Gideon’s International.
He was a pillar of the community, but his greatest love was for his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Leroy was preceded in death by his loving wife of 43 years, Shirley, son, Leroy Ivan Jefferies III; brother, Robert Jefferies and sister, Rosella Humes.
Leroy is survived by his loving children, Wanda R. Jefferies (Jerome) of Harrisburg, Steven Jefferies and his wife Christina of OH, Anthony Jefferies and his wife Angela of Harrisburg, and Keith Jefferies of Harrisburg; four siblings, Charmaine Moss, James, Richard, and William Jefferies; twelve grandchildren, Rocky, Courtney, Valerie, Christopher, Cameron, Chad, Jeremy, Keith Jr., Tara, Kayla, Dasan and Aiyana; fifteen great-grandchildren and beloved dog, Bella.
A tribute to Leroy’s life will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 12:00 PM at the Matinchek Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., Middletown with the Rev. James Hymon officiating.
Viewing will be from 10:00 AM until the time of services, Saturday at the funeral home.
