Maureen E. Mahnken, 68, of Middletown, entered into eternal rest on October 20, 2022, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on January 29, 1954, in Staten Island, NY, and was the daughter of the late Adolph H. and Margaret M. (Conway) Mahnken.
Maureen was a teacher at the Harrisburg Catholic Elementary School where she devoted her entire teaching career. Teaching was her life.
She also found joy in spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Maureen was preceded in death by her brother, William Mahnken.
She is survived by her lifelong friends, Joseph Dailey and Kim Lehman; three nieces, Tracy Balistrere-Kostelac, Anne-Marie Balistrere Atticks and her husband Kenneth, and Angela Britton and her husband Brooke; great- nieces and nephews, Alexa, Anthony, Alexander, Lucas, Aliza, Ava, Cecelia and Francesca.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 280 N. Race St. Middletown, with the Rev. Timothy Sahd as celebrant and the Very Rev. Joshua R. Brommer and Rev. Thomas Rozman concelebrating.
Viewing will be on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Matinchek Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., Middletown. There will be an addition viewing on Wednesday from 10:00 Am until the time of Mass at Seven Sorrows.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions please be made to Harrisburg Catholic Elementary, 212 State St. Harrisburg PA 17101.
