Obituary for Ralph Mondoro

Ralph Mondoro, 66, of Elizabethtown, called his final out on Monday, November 7, 2022, with his family by his side. He fought a long, hard battle for many years with his auto-immune disease and amazed many people with the strength he had to keep pushing forward.
He was born on October 10, 1956, in Dunellen, NJ, and was the son of the late Jerome and Marie (Dixon) Mondoro.
Ralph was a CNC Machinist and worked for Mack Trucks for 38 years. He was a past UAW Local 677 president and also a Mason at Brownstone Lodge, Hershey.
Prior to his illness, he was always on the go. Hunting and umpiring were his greatest passions. If he wasn’t on a field somewhere, he could always be found in the woods somewhere between here and New Jersey deer hunting.
Ralph was a softball umpire at the high school and collegiate levels for 36 years and was the current president of DCUA. He coached both youth baseball and softball as well as women’s fastpitch teams throughout his life. He inspired so many lives on and off the field all while teaching life lessons along the way.
He had a natural talent for any sport and could do them all well. Bowling, horseshoes, darts, ping pong, you name it. He was always up for that challenge and would leave you scratching your head on his abilities.
His infectious smile and laugh would light up the room. He had such a huge heart, generous spirit and was the definition of an optimist, always remaining positive and encouraging others to do the same. He changed so many lives along his journey in the hope that his optimism would rub off on everyone he touched.
He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Bonnie Mondoro; three children, Jason Mondoro of Middletown, Lyndsey Sechrist (Lake) of Jonestown, and Andrew Bath (Kristina) of Middletown; brother Jerry Mondoro (Cathy); sister, Patty Mondoro-Ross (Tom); three grandchildren, Cooper Gill, Ari Mondoro, and Owen Bath; cousin ‘Uncle’ Louie Piano; and his beloved Boston Terriers.
A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday November 20, 2022, from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm at The Londonderry Fire Company, 2655 Foxianna Rd., Middletown, PA.
The family has entrusted the care of the Matinchek Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., Middletown to handle the funeral arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested any memorial contributions in Ralph’s name please be made to the Humane Society of your choice as his dogs were such a huge part of his life.
