Obituary for Raymond G. Zanzinger Jr.

Raymond G. Zanzinger, Jr., 75, of Middletown entered eternal rest on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at his
home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Maureen (Markey) in which he shared 54
years of marriage.
He was born December 3, 1946, in Philadelphia and was the loving son of the late Raymond G. Sr. and
Mary (Ballantine) Zanzinger.
Raymond was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He was a member of Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Middletown, as well as a member of the American Legion Post 594.
Ray was an Operations Manager for Transcore from where he retired after 40+ years of service.
He was an avid golfer and belonged to Sunset Golf Course. He enjoyed watching the Philadelphia Eagles, Philadelphia Phillies, playing and coaching softball where he was called “Coach” by everyone who knew him. Ray also enjoyed gardening. His greatest love was his family and the time they shared.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Mary Carino and Joan DeMarco.
In addition to his wife, Raymond is survived by his daughters, Sandra Arnold (Todd) of Harrisburg,
Deborah Scalera (Joseph) of Harrisburg, Christine Oberto (Joseph) of Harrisburg, Kelly Rogers (Joseph) of Hummelstown; thirteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 22, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 280 N. Race St. Middletown, PA with Fr. Timothy Sahd as Celebrant. There will be a viewing from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church. The Mass will be livestreamed on Raymond’s page on the Matinchek website.
Burial will be at Middletown Cemetery, Middletown.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Raymond’s name to Seven Sorrows BVM at the above address or the American Cancer Society, 314 Good Dr. Lancaster, PA 17603.
The family has entrusted the Matinchek Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc, 260 E. Main St.
Middletown, PA 17057 with the funeral arrangements.
