Obituary for Rev. Luke M. Weaver

Rev. Luke M. Weaver, 96, entered into his eternal home on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born February 20. 1926 in New Holland, PA and was the loving son of the late David O. and Elizabeth (Martin) Weaver.
He was preceded in death by his wife Edna M. Weaver and his parents David O. and Elizabeth, and brothers, Rufus, Ivan, John, David and Harvey, and sisters, Edna, Anna, three grandsons, Timothy and Jonathan Maust, and Marcus Weaver.
Luke started his working career being a farmer. In 1955, while plowing the field, God spoke to him to leave farming and go into the mission work. He obeyed and moved off the farm with his wife Edna and five children and began helping in a little Mennonite Mission in Harrisburg. Later he became the founding Pastor of Grace Chapel, Elizabethtown, PA. Through the years he traveled around the world, speaking in many nations.
He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing and looking at farming equipment. He loved putting puzzles together and playing games.
He is survived by his three sons, Melvin W. Weaver and his wife Rosemary of Hershey, Earl W. Weaver and his wife Joy of TN. and Luke W. Weaver Jr. and his wife Bonnie of New Brunswick, Canada; two daughters, Irene W. Clark and her husband Dr. Grant of Elizabethtown and Martha W. Hale and her husband Phillip of Salem, OR; 15 grandchildren; several step grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; brother, Melvin Weaver of Ephrata; sisters, Esther Martin of Wellsboro, Ruth Silverman of CA.

A tribute to Luke’s life will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2022, at 11:00 AM, visitation from 9 to 11 AM at Grace Chapel, 2535 Colebrook Rd, Elizabethtown, PA with Pastors Melvin Weaver, and Robert Lauver co-officiating. The service will be live streamed on the Matinchek website on Luke's page.
Burial will take place on Friday, December 30, 2022, at 12:00 PM at Conewago Cemetery, at the approx. address 1851 Old Hershey Rd. Elizabethtown.
The family has entrusted the Matinchek Funeral Home and cremation Services Inc. 260 E. Main St. Middletown, PA with the funeral arrangements.
