Obituary for Ronald L. Helwig

Ronald Lamar Helwig, 80, of Dillsburg, formerly of Middletown entered eternal rest on Sunday, April 16, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Ruth Ann (Motovich) Helwig.
He was born July 7, 1942 in Ashland, PA and was the loving son of the late Earl L. and Violet (Quick) Helwig. In addition to his parents, Ronald was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Tammy.
He was a proud veteran paratrooper of the U.S. Army serving with 101st Airborne 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment Bravo Company.
Ronald was a member and head quartermaster of the 506th Airborne Association, 101st Airborne Association, and Middletown American Legion Post 594. He enjoyed hunting, boating, woodworking, the military and looking into his ancestry. His greatest love was his family and attending events in which his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren participated.
In addition to his wife, Ronald is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Boal and husband Brian of York Springs; son, Ronald Lamar Helwig II and wife Veronica of Hershey; sister, Peggy Ann Ginnovan of Mechanicsburg; grandchildren, Cody Lamar Helwig and wife Morgan, Hunter Boal, April Helwig, Logan Boal, Zoe Bell, Kelsi Helwig; great-grandchildren, Kayleigh and Layton Lamar Helwig.
There will be a viewing from 3:30PM to 5:30PM Friday, April 21, 2023 at Matinchek Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. 260 E. Main St. Middletown, PA. A celebration of life will be held at 5:30 PM with the Rev. Britt Strohecker officiating.
The service will be live streamed on the Matinchek website on Ronald’s page for those of you who may not be able to attend in person.
Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
