Obituary for Ronald Ray Powell Sr.
Ronald Ray Powell, Sr., 87, of Steelton, PA entered into eternal rest on April 11, 2021 in his home. He was born February 3, 1934 in Highspire, PA to the late Armstrong Alexander and Catherine Rae (Fish) Powell. He is survived by his loving wife, Doris Marie (Potts) Powell.
In addition to his wife he is survived by 2 children, Ronald Ray Powell, II and wife Kathy and Dianne Marie Powell; a step-son, John Sonker and wife Dara; 2 grandchildren, Ronald, III and Andrew Powell; and a sister, Judith “Judy” Kurtz. He was predeceased by a sister, Lois P. Kiegel.
Ronald proudly served in the United States Army. He was an electrical engineer, and was employed by Greenray Industries and later Industrial Harness. He enjoyed a good cigar but his true passion was stamp collecting and his membership in the American Philatelic Society.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at 11 AM at Matinchek Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 260 E. Main St., Middletown, PA 17057 with Pastor Terry Lamer officiating. A viewing will be held from 10 AM until time of the service. Burial will follow the services in Hillsdale Cemetery, Middletown, PA.
