Obituary for Samuel H. Fallinger

Samuel H. Fallinger, 81, of Elizabethtown, entered into eternal rest on Monday, December 19, 2022, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Sam was born on January 11, 1941, in Royalton, and was the son of the late Samuel Fallinger Jr. and Mildred E. (Clark) Fallinger.
He was a 1958 graduate of Middletown High School.
He was a member of the Eagle Mountain Christian Center and became ordained to officiate his grandson Mitchell’s wedding.
He was a sergeant of security at Bethlehem Steel in Steelton followed by a second-class utility worker at TMI, retiring in December 1999.
He was an avid reader of Christian books and was a true prayer warrior for many.
Sam was a proud Veteran of the US Marine Corps. He received his black belt in Isshinryu karate. At the age of 60, he went skydiving from 10,000 ft. He wrote many stories having one published in Hounds and Hunting magazine in 1999. Sam spent many years with Yokefellow Prison Ministry going into Camp Hill prison every week. He was a long-time member of Swatara Beagle Club. Sam was an avid Eagles football and Penn State Football and wrestling fan. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially in Potter County.
In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by his sister, Jo Ann DeVoid.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 59 years, Donna M. (Welsh) Fallinger; two sons, Samuel T. Fallinger Sr. and his wife Kelly S., and Matthew S. Fallinger and his wife Connie L.; a brother, Dr. David L. Fallinger; four grandchildren, Samuel T. Fallinger Jr., Mitchell J. Fallinger and his wife Sarah, Caitlin M. Scheer and her husband Damian, and Derrick M. Fallinger; a great granddaughter, Sophia M. Scheer.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2022, at 12:00 Noon at Matinchek Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., Middletown with Dr. David L. Fallinger, Stephen Nye, and Samuel T. Fallinger Sr., officiating. A visitation will be from 10:00 Am until the time of services at the funeral home.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
