Obituary for Shirley Ann Hanshue
Shirley Ann Hanshue, 83, of Middletown, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at home.
She was born June 25, 1939, in Royalton, PA and was the daughter of the late Walter and Ethel (Kinsey) Hanshue.
Surviving are goddaughters, Melody, and Arie Deitrich of Pittsburg. She was preceded in death by Elwood Ierley.
Shirley was a 1957 graduate of Middletown High School. She attended Royalton United Methodist Church where she was treasurer of the United Methodist Women and Elementary Youth. She headed crafts and snacks yearly for Bible School and Youth.
Shirley was assistant manager of W.T. Grant and Company, owner and operator of Shirl’s Gift Shop, held various positions at Town and Country Day School, sold Avon, and ran a home day care. She was a lover of children.
Shirley Volunteered as a Girl Scout Leader, a member of the Historical Society, helped at the thrift shop, and represented Middletown as Queen of the Mother of Congress.
A tribute to Shirley’s life will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Matinchek Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. 260 E. Main St. Middletown, PA with Rev. Richard Creamer officiating. There will be a viewing from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Thursday. The service will be live streamed on the Matinchek website on Shirley's page for those who are not able to attend.
Interment will be at Hillsdale Cemetery, Middletown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Shirley’s name to, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
