Obituary for Vera Katherine Schaeffer (Imes)
Vera Katherine Schaeffer, 86, of Middletown, entered into eternal rest surrounded by her loving family on Monday, October 19, 2020. She was born June 29, 1934 in Harrisburg to the late Joseph and Cora (Lenker) Imes.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Donald Schaeffer; 3 daughters, Barbara A. Junker (Thomas), Deborah L. Gilbert (Jerry), Vera E. Brown (Richard); 2 step-sons, Ronald Schaeffer (Melissa), Kenneth Schaeffer (Bonnie); 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Irene Cioban. She was predeceased by 5 siblings.
Vera was a member of Mountain View Bible Church in Hershey. She was an avid baker, a talented piano player, and she enjoyed handcrafting ceramics. She loved being outdoors working in her garden and found joy in cutting the grass. Most importantly she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.
A public visitation will be held on Friday, October 23, 2020 from 10-11 AM at Matinchek Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 260 E. Main St., Middletown, PA 17057. Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions, there will be a private, invite only, funeral service immediately following the viewing with Pastor Elwood Pfaunmiller officiating.
