Obituary for Walter C. Theal
Walter C. Theal, 86, of Harrisburg, entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 17, 2021 at Arden Courts of Susquehanna. He was the loving husband of Joan (Yozviak) Theal.
Walter graduated from Mechanicsburg High School in 1953. He was a United States Air Force Veteran, where he worked on F86D Saber Dog Jets and retired from the Pennsylvania Air National Guard with the rank of First Sergeant. Walter was a retired Safety Engineer for CIGNA and part-time school bus driver. He received a Bachelor's degree from Penn State University – Harrisburg Campus.
Walter served a term as President of the Board of ARC, and was a proud supporter of Special Olympics. He was an avid reader, loved history, classical music and spending time with family. Walter was a member of Central PA WWII Roundtable in Hummelstown, PA.
Walter is survived by his wife, his daughters, Christina Stone (Manny), Laurie Theal and Dianne Theal, his son, Andrew Theal, two granddaughters, Lindsay Metcalf and Katie Clement, grandson, Niko Theal, great granddaughters, Emma and Evelyn Metcalf and Maeleigh Clement and great grandsons, Grayson and Maverick Clement.
Walter’s daughter Vicki Theal and his parents, Ruth Kraber and Haines Shaffer, preceded him in death.

Services will be held on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at 12 noon in the Matinchek Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 260 East Main Street, Middletown, Pa. Visitation will be from 11am to 12 noon in the Funeral Home. Following services, burial with Military Honors, will be held in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made in Walter’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
