Obituary

Karen M. Ritchey, 74, of Middletown entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on May 24, 1946 in Johnstown and was the loving daughter of the late Howard and Anna Mae (Hunter) Helsel.
Karen enjoyed shopping, traveling and cooking. She was an accomplished cook and made many delicious dishes which were first and foremost filled with love. What filled her heart the most was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and feeding people. Macaroni and cheese, scratch made pierogies and her incredible fish fry were among the meals most requested by her friends and family.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters, Cora Rager, and Shirley Helsel.
Karen is survived by her husband of 54 years, Gregory D. Ritchey; son: Slade G. Ritchey (Moira) of Harrisburg; daughter, Janette L. Gilmore (Brian) of Hershey; three grandsons and 2 step-granddaughters.
A tribute to Karen's life will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Matinchek Funeral Home, 260 E. Main St. Middletown, PA 17057 with the Rev. Britt Strohecker officiating. There will be a visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Karen's name to St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. You can print out the form on https://www.stjude.org to mail with the check.
